Custom 404 Pages

Who says we can’t have a little fun with these?

Error messages, like “404 Not Found,” are generated by the website’s hosting server. They occur when the user attempts to follow a broken or dead link. The infamous “404” is perhaps the most typical error we experience on the internet, and we might even groan when they appear.

The “404 Not Found” message used to be cold, heartless, and lacking flare and style. With the trend toward more personable copy, web developers are now seeing the 404 error as an opportunity to add a little humor and personality to the messaging. We couldn’t agree more!

Oh, and by the way, Google likes customized 404 pages as they help improve the end user’s experience.

Here are a few of our favorite quips to use on 404 pages. Click here to see our 404 page! (Yep, we broke this link on purpose!)
