About Nancy LeVasseur

You By Design Websites was created out of a desire to help artists, entertainers, music ensembles, and small businesses leverage the power of the internet.

People sometimes ask me why I use the first person plural – aka “we” -when referring to what I do. There are so many people who have played a major role in my life, and I would not be where I am today without them.

My “we” includes family, friends, teachers, colleagues, students, and even casual acquaintances and complete strangers. They have encouraged, supported, disciplined, taught, and motivated me through life.

Here are some highlights of my story.

  • Maintained a private computer-based studio for enhanced rhythmic skills and ear training
  • Created and produced a violin/viola technique book that provided practice solutions for common technical issues. Known as “The Boring Book” to students, it was sarcastically titled “The World’s Most Boring Technique Book.”
I quite frequently think about how grateful I am for having studied the viola with you. You taught me, during my most crucial development years, how to keep my hands relaxed while playing. I feel so lucky to have never had tension issues (so far), and I owe a lot of that to your excellent teaching of that idea. You also taught me so well about left hand independence and smooth and relaxed shifting with the technique book that you wrote and I am so grateful to have such a strong foundation in those areas. Thank you for your wonderful teaching. Hanna Pederson, Viola Masters of Performance, Rice University
